«Un projet rock psyché hybride, qui tend autant du côté de Thee Oh Sees que Eels, Pond ou encore Beck»
Gonzaï.
Multi-instrumentalist, composer, dilettante, polymath: Emmanuel Alias has traversed many paths en route to his current eponymous psych-rock project. Beginning with musical contributions to TV series including Big Little Lies, Sharp Objects, Mon fils, and Mariloup Wolfe’s feature-length Jouliks, he then worked with Musique Nomade, notably producing the album DREAMWEAVER by multidisciplinary Oji-Cree/Mi’kmaq artist Anachnid (nominated at ADISQ and long-listed for the Polaris Prize). He also produced the song “Out of Touch” on Beyries’ album Encounter.
In 2019, he unveiled ALIAS, a smooth, soaring, elastic, cathartic psych-rock project, imbued with retro-tinged, fantastical tales that knowingly quote from the canon, rife with ambivalences, dissonances, fuzz, and tempo changes.
A few singles are already available. More will be released soon, to culminate in a debut mini-album from Simone Records.
