« On the B-side, the track “Speed Guru”, whose melodious and slightly oriental guitar is intermittently crushed through effect pedals,
some crafted by the guitarist himself. This contrast forms an impressive sound barrier that borders, in concert, on the power of a
plane in takeoff. »

« Yoo Doo Right are magicians of momentum who know how and when to play their cards. As heavy as the sound gets, they pace the
EP such that you never need a break. (…) Yoo Doo Right are fit proponents of classic psychedelic jamming, with a distinct
soundscape they can always dive back into. »

Inspired by the pounding rhythmic improvisations found in krautrock, experimental trio Yoo Doo Right (Montréal, CA) wed noisy, melodic guitar parts, effect-heavy synthesizer soundscapes, nonchalant bass grooves and patented percussive furies into a literal wall of sound. Solemn, chin-to-chest vocals dance in and out of the primordial sonic spectrum, creating a warm pillow to rest a weary head upon. In their honest approach to experimentation, YDR engage with elements of shoegaze, post-rock and psychedelia, crafting a unique sound that could be described as a “car crash in slow motion”.
Part interstellar ear-worms, part sonic experimentations, their upcoming opus sees the trio relentlessly chase, and successfully capture, the very essence of their art, resulting in layered bombastic tracks ranging from mechanical krautrock to audacious space rock. Don’t Think You Can Escape Your Purpose LP, to be released on May 21, 2021 via Mothland, should absolutely please fans of Can, My Bloody Valentine and Metz, while also striking a chord with eclectic music aficionados who enjoy artists like Do Make Say Think, Beak> or Thee Oh Sees.
